Design and Consultation in Urban Regeneration

Linking some of the foremost creative minds in urban regeneration from the UK, China, and Hong Kong, this dynamic forum featured case studies from top industry professionals and commentaries by advocates of community involvement.

As a follow-up to its much-acclaimed Soul of the City programme, British Council was pleased to present this opportunity for creative networking, professional dialogue, and information sharing in partnership with the Hong Kong Design Centre, as part of the Hong Kong Business of Design Week.

Who were among the participants

Experienced consultants and designers - Steve McAdam, David Barrie, Ou Ning, Dr. Desmond Hui Mathias Woo and Freeman Lau interacted with architects, urban designers and planners, academic researchers, artists interested in public art and opinion leaders in the community to share experiences and best practices involving urban regeneration.

Topics of Interest

  • Identifying challenges and opportunities in urban regeneration due to economic development, renewal and change of purpose in Hong Kong and cities in Mainland China and the UK.
  • Reviewing the potential for cross-border collaboration in light of similarities/differences in the respective cities.
