The British Council is celebrating its 60th anniversary in Hong Kong in 2008. One of the prominent features of the British Council’s 60th anniversary is the honouring of sixty individuals from Hong Kong who have graduated from UK educational institutions over the past six decades. Celebration 60 is a roll call of successful UK alumni in different walks of life and a reflection of the UK's commitment to excellence and diversity of experience.

One of the events we the British Council is holding to celebrate our anniversary is the Celebration 60 Art Exhibition, featuring work from our 6 “creative” UK alumni. They are:

Rachel Cheung (University of Sunderland)
Kenji Ko (Thames Valley University)
Tung-pang Lam  (Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design)
Kai-yin Lo  (University of Cambridge; King's College London)
Tam Wai-ping (University of Reading; Slade School of Fine Art)
Stella Tang  (Goldsmiths College, University of London)

The exhibition celebrates the quality of UK - Hong Kong educational partnerships in creativity and offers a chance for audiences to see works by some of Hong Kong's most interesting and challenging artists. It features work from six Hong Kong artists at different stages of their careers, embracing jewellery, ceramics, multi-media and fine art. The artists have very different approaches to their practices, from playful to elegant, vulnerable to bold.

The exhibition was shown in the British Council London office at Spring Gardens from 2-19 June. A reception was held on 12 June where the six artists met with over 70 guests and leaders in both the education and arts sectors.
