DCSF International School Award

The DCSF International School Award is an accreditation scheme for curriculum-based international work in schools.

The scheme provides recognition for teachers and their schools working to instill a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people.

The ISA supports schools to develop the following:

An international ethos embedded throughout the school
A majority of pupils within the school impacted by and involved in international work
Collaborative curriculum-based work with a number of partner schools
Curriculum-based work across a range of subjects
Year round international activity
Involvement of partner schools and the wider community in the UK

The ISA website offers:

Evaluation from a variety of sources allowing you to improve your activities and your international programme.

How many schools have received the award?

Over 1000 International School Awards have been presented to successful schools since the scheme began in 1999.

Is the ISA only for schools in the UK?

Visit the  ISA International site. site to learn how the British Council has worked with ministries of education and schools in other countries to provide equivalent accreditation.

The DCSF International School Award is supported and funded in the England by the DCSF. The scheme in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is the British Council ISA. The International School Award scheme is managed by the British Council.
