Welcome to the Equal Opportunity and Diversity area of the British Council website.

The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, building trust and engagement for the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide. In line with our values, we are strongly committed to the Equal Opportunity and Diversity agenda. We work to promote the UK’s achievements in this area and to showcase relevant British Council work.

The Diversity Unit at the British Council has responsibility for setting and driving the strategic Equal Opportunity and Diversity (EO & D) agenda within the organisation. As a small team we work closely with other colleagues, we provide specialist advice and guidance, and we develop tools to help us assess progress with mainstreaming diversity. We are supported in our work by a number of networks, both internal and external, in the UK and around the world.
