JOB SUMMARY
Ensure the organisation develops and implements best practice in Health and Safety, thus ensuring legal compliance.  To support the Head, Health and Safety in providing the Council with suitable information and tools which allow individuals and the organisation to fulfil its responsibilities while taking the initiative promoting, interpreting, implementing and influencing the British Council’s Health and Safety policy. The role contributes significantly to the British Council’s strategic management of business risks.

The H&S team comprises of the Head of Health and Safety, Fire Protection Manager and Corporate Health and Safety Advisor and is part of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department. The ERM is comprised of H&S, Security, Business Continuity and Insurance.  Its aim is to support the Council’s activities around the world through enabling colleagues with practical strategy, guidance and tools.  The department has been newly created due to the increasing influence, importance and relevance of professional risk management within the Council and in industry in general.
