WHO WE ARE
The British Council connects people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK and builds lasting relationships between the UK and other countries.

Strategic Procurement Team is responsible for ensuring that the best value for money is achieved for the goods and services BC purchases from third parties, working with the business units, globally and that purchasing efficiency targets are met. Within this overall objective SPT is responsible for setting out the BC’s procurement strategy, defining procurement policy, the development and implementation of best practice, and compliance with BC’s legal obligations including the EU Procurement Directives. SPT will work with departments to successfully implement their localised and product procurement strategies, acting both as internal consultant and 'intelligent client'. The team also provides them with guidance on the full range of procurement issues. SPT also leads on the development of the e-procurement systems and capability in FABS. SPT also co-leads on Sustainability.

The core team consists of one other permanent member. This team is supplemented by an outsourced procurement agency; covering management of the team core list of UK contracts (hotels, conference, travel and office stationery), selected category market tenders, spend analysis, opportunity analysis and category expertise. The current team is split-site based, Central London off Trafalgar square and Central Manchester, and is part of the Business Support Services Group.
