Welcome to the British Council Greece's latest edition of Talking English - our bi-monthly newsletter for English language teachers.

Our aim is to help you keep up to date with global ELT news and local events organised by the British Council. Find links to useful websites and articles, online teaching resources, and details of events and training opportunities in Greece.

 Jane Austen
Join us in a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. On this special site you will find lesson plans and articles about her novels plus a blog, and coming soon - a series of podcasts and a short film.
 Alien teachers
Alex is an English teacher who believes we should never stop learning or developing. In 'Payback time' Alex reports his findings after taking the brave step after inviting his students and co-teachers to rate his performance in the classroom.
 A beginner's guide to mobile learning in ELT
In this practical seminar Amy Lightfoot explores the current opportunities for learning English using mobile phones both in and out of the classroom. She debates the pros and cons of this medium and looks at a variety of content that is currently available. Other new seminars this month include 'Beyond computer assisted language learning' and 'A short history of ELT'.

 Exercise generator on TeachingEnglish
TeachingEnglish website is pleased to announce a revised partnership agreement with LingleOnline Ltd for its ‘Gap-fill generator’ resource as part of its innovative ‘Tools for teachers’ set of resources. Register for a TeachingEnglish account and start using the exercise generator to create texts for your classes: simply choose your level, topic and text, then create your worksheets and then print them!
 Innovation is great
This lesson is about innovation and its place in society. It develops reading and speaking skills and the use of context-specific vocabulary. The students' own experiences and opinions form the basis of all discussion and extension work.
 Blogathon 2013

The TeachingEnglish Blogathon starts on 1 February 2013! The Blogathon is a blogging marathon that brings together teachers of English (in Russia, Croatia, Israel, Uzbekistan, Cyprus, Hungary, Bulgaria, Spain, Romania and Armenia) to share good practice in ELT and find out more about blogging. Why not have a look and comment on what you read?
