IMAGINE PEACE

In collaboration with the International Olympic Truce Centre and the British Embassy, and with the support of Samsung, we're proud to present the educational programme Imagine Peace, which familiarises students with the significance of the Olympic Truce, its ancient history, its modern resurgence as well as its continuing relevance in the modern world.

SCHOOL VISITS
The programme consists of a series of school visits that includes games and activities devised and organised by British Council teachers and members of the International Olympic Truce Centre, in collaboration with Samsung.

The programme was launched in May 2012 with visits to schools in Athens and around Greece. Over 1,550 primary school children took part in the workshops and spread the spirit of Olympic Truce through a series of interactive activities, including painting and drawing, song and dance, accompanied by Greek Olympic medalists.

If you ask children from Olympia, Iraklion, Serres, Thessaloniki and Athens what the Olympics mean to them, you will hear the same answers – ones that include not just the words 'sport' and 'competition' but also 'peace' and 'friendship'.
