LIVING TOGETHER

Living Together is a major British Council initiative that brings together diverse groups from 27 countries across Europe to contribute to the global debate on intercultural dialogue.

Intercultural dialogue covers a wide range of issues from ethnic conflict and economic migration to religious tolerance and equal opportunities. It is one of the most important priorities for societies worldwide today.

The aim of Living Together is to contribute to intercultural dialogue and understanding between countries in South East and Northern Europe, as well as the UK, by creating a series of networks and public forums on the opportunities, threats and implications of our increasingly complex societies.

As part of our Living Together project and in collaboration with local and international partners, we are organising a series of multicultural activities in Greece including:

Living Together – Photography Competition
If you're interested in intercultural dialogue and are aged 13–35, why not enter our Living Together Photography Competition?

Short Story Competition

Migrant Cities
We invite you to Athens: City of Migrants, an open discussion on how migration is shaping Athens, current migration patterns and future trends, and migrants’ expectations, experiences and aspirations of life in the Greek capital. Invited speakers include Yvette Jarvis, Miltos Pavlou and Eda Gemi. The discussion will be facilitated by journalist Takis Kampylis.
Athens: 11 November 2008
Imagine Your Future
Our Imagine Your Future project aims to change the way minorities and migrants are presented in the media by giving young people from minority and migrant communities the opportunity to articulate their aspirations for the future and the tools to translate these into media products for the wider public. Join us at the first screening of our local Imagine Your Future DigiTales created by a diverse group of migrants in Greece, which will be presented as part of the Platforma Video8 Festival in Technopolis.
Athens: 8 November 2008

In addition to multilateral and regional collaborative projects, there will also be two high-profile events: an International Summit and a Regional Congress.

A detailed outline of the project can be found on our dedicated website at www.britishcouncil.org/livingtogether.

You can find out about the project activities each country is taking part in on the What’s going on in my country? page of the website.

In line with the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue in 2008, the Council of Europe also strongly supports Living Together and has granted their patronage to the project.
