IMAGINE YOUR FUTURE

Our Imagine Your Future project aims to change the way minorities and migrants are presented in the media by giving young people from minority and migrant communities the opportunity to articulate their aspirations for the future and the tools to translate these into media products for the wider public.

Differences in our ethnicity/race, religious beliefs, language, socio-economic background and sexual orientation enrich the multicultural societies we live in. However, despite the many advantages of multiculturism, members of migrant and minority communities often face prejudice, suspicion, fear, discrimination, violence and inequality, and rarely enjoy the opportunities given to the rest of society or receive their equal share of benefits.

The media mirrors how societies view difference, but it also has the power to change perceptions and promote tolerance by giving minorities the chance to gain visibility and be heard. It has the capacity to eliminate stereotypes and create a space for establishing mutual respect, better understanding and integration in society.

The aim of this Living Together project is to contribute to intercultural dialogue by giving young migrants and members of minorities a voice and an opportunity to tell their stories today, talk about their aspirations and so shape their own future.

Imagine your Future is an international programme with 9 participating countries in the South East Europe region.

As part of the project, we are in the process of training a group of young migrants living in Greece to create their own digital stories, which will then be presented to the local and international media.
