HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY BRITISH COUNCIL!

This year marks our 75th anniversary and we're delighted to invite you to a street festival we're organising to celebrate the occasion!

Come and enjoy a feast of fun – children of all ages and their parents will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of creative activities, and learn about the work we do in a wide range of areas such as intercultural dialogue, the environment and creativity.

We have put together a programme of seven educational activities that make use of music, painting and other art forms and allow children to express themselves in a creative and fulfilling way, while raising their awareness of some of the main challenges facing the world today:

INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE

A friend who's different from me
- exploring issues of difference and diversity
Myself ... differently
- creating portraits with different characteristics

ENVIRONMENT

Recycled paper
- an introduction to the benefits of recycling
Bubbles
- a game to familiarise children with the properties of water and arouse children’s curiosity about natural phenomena
Who has seen Klifi?
- a look back at the environmental phenomena that have shaped our planet and how it might change in the future

CREATIVITY

Drawing a message
- a game about communication and human relationships
Rubbish becomes art
- transforming discarded materials into arts and crafts

When: Saturday 4 April 2009, from 1100 to 1500
Where: Kolonaki Square (outside the British Council)
106 73 Athens
