TAKE PART IN THE ATHENS PLAYTHON FESTIVAL!

Are you ready to take to the streets, win epic battles and dance in city squares in a games marathon? Athens Plaython, the first-ever street games festival in the Greek capital, will transform Technopolis and the streets of Athens into a huge playground!

In parallel with the games marathon, the festival will also be running a range of game design and technology workshops for both children and adults led by Greek and international artists.

WORKSHOPS

DIY Speaker Jam Session
Do you love sound? Have you ever wanted to know more about it? Join London-based Technology Will Save Us for a workshop where they'll teach you how to solder an amplifier from bare electronic components and then attach it to a pair of exciters, which transform almost any material into a speaker.

Work with their experts to understand the best way to get the best audio response from your own hand made speakers by using the DIY Speaker Kit!

Hippokampos in the Grey Matter
Half workshop, half game, Hippokampos in the Grey Matter explores how we relate memories to a physical place and how these are shared with others, yet are never quite the same.

UK based MzTek and Pollie Barden from Queen Mary University of London invite you to create your own mobile game taking you through a network of memories, places and paths from our past, tracing them into the physical landscape of Athens, exploring how memories can cross in the same way that paths can.

Quick Response Corpse
Quick Response Corpse, presented by Frowntails, is a workshop that mashes traditional embroidery and QR codes. It's an artistic methodology that emerged through a game developed by the Surrealists called 'exquisite or rotating corpse'.

You'll be asked to stitch/embroider one two-dimensional QR code. Then you'll connect your individually created code embroidery to information personally gathered from the Internet. Finally, all the embroideries will be linked together to form one big collaborative handmade patchwork!

PlayOlympics
The Athens Plaython team, inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games, will transform Gazi into an alternative Olympic stadium, where you'll be able play and create your own original Olympic sports.

During the PlayOlympics, you'll learn the basic principles of game design and create your own web pages for your new sports, simultaneously learning how to programme in HTML and CSS, using specially designed tools such as the Mozilla Thimble Tool.

When:   Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 September 2012
Where: Nikos Gatsos Hall (Building D12), & yard, Technopolis, 100 Pireos Street, Gazi, 118 54 Athens
