SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY AND ARTIFICIAL LIFE

In collaboration with the National Hellenic Research Foundation and the French Institute, we are organising a round-table discussion on Synthetic Biology and Artificial Life.

The keynote speaker will be Dr Seth Bullock, Professor at the School of Electronics and Computer Science, Southampton University. Dr Bullock’s principal interest is evolutionary simulation modelling: the application of evolutionary modelling techniques developed within artificial intelligence to problems within evolutionary biology. He is also interested in the potential for these modelling techniques to be applied to problems from many other disciplines, e.g., linguistics, economics, psychology, geography, anthropology.

Henri Atlan, Professor of Biology, and Michel Morange, Director of Research at EHESS in Paris, will participate as guest speakers. They will speak about Synthetic Biology and The Artificial Uterus respectively.

The discussion is part of a series of events on Society and Health organised by the National Hellenic Research Foundation, aiming at raising public awareness of current research in the fields of medicine and biology and its impact on people lives.

Simultaneous translation into Greek will be provided.
