THE ROLE OF SCIENCE CENTRES

Join us and Dave Patten, our guest from the Science Museum in London, in a round-table discussion οf Science centres, new scientific knowledge and the Web.

The discussion will be held as part of the parallel activities of the Eugenides Foundation's new project e-KnowNet, which aims to develop an innovative and viable mechanism enabled by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), able to facilitate the flow of new scientific knowledge from the research laboratory to larger, non-expert segments of society in forms suitable for non-formal learning.

Dave Patten is Head of New Media at the Science Museum, London. His responsibilities include developing the museum's multimedia strategy, managing and developing multimedia-based exhibits and giving technical advice on exhibit development.

He is currently providing technical consultancy to several exhibitions under development, as well as overseeing the ongoing development of technical aspects of the Science Museum's new Wellcome Wing.
