ZEROCARBONCITY CAMPAIGN

CITY DEBATES AND CAFÉ SCIENTIFIQUE

Conversations and discussions about the connections between science, technology and society. A programme of city debates around the globe using city venues to provide a platform for expert comment on a variety of topics connected to climate change, and then encouraging audience participation to continue the open discussions.

Lecture: New Frontiers in Climate Change Research
This year's catastrophic hurricane in New Orleans has brought about a dramatic increase in global awareness of the enormous climatic changes caused by the destruction of the environment. If you are concerned about the future of our planet, come along to the lecture by Dr Matthew Collins, a distinguished researcher at the Hadley Centre, Department of the Meteorology Office in the UK, entitled New Frontiers in Climate Change Research. The lecture will be followed by an open discussion.

There will be an introduction by Professor Christos Zerefos, Chairman of the National Observatory of Athens, who will give a talk on Climate Change in the Mediterranean.

This event takes place in the framework of the British Council's global campaign ZeroCarbonCity, which aims to raise awareness and stimulate debate about climate change among people living in cities.

You can also visit the NorthSouthEastWest photographic exhibition, which shows the impact of climate change in communities from all parts of the globe, in the foyer of the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall. 6-25 October 2005, daily 1000-1800.
