MONKEY XOΟTH MEETS DARWIN

24 November 1859: Publication of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.

150 years later, on the same date, we invite you to a unique event that attempts to combine theatre and science.

As part of the performance lecture based on Iakovos Pitsipios’ book Monkey Xooth or The Morals of the Century, Dr Kostas Karpouzis, www.openscience.gr, will introduce the play and attempt to explain the science behind the script.

The performance is a funny and ironic attempt to trace human authenticity beyond social limitations. This version of the performance lecture is a further development of the original which was presented at the National Hellenic Research Foundation in February as part of the Darwin Year celebrations.

Developed and directed by Elena Timplalexi and presented by Alexandros Maratos in the role of the narrator Bartholdy, Monkey Xooth has been running since 5 October with performances on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9.15 p.m.

When:   Tuesday 24 November 2009, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Fournos Theatre, 168 Mavromichali Street, 114 72 Athens
