HOW TO BECOME A WEBMAKER

We're organising an exclusive series of webmaking workshops for students (aged 10–15) and teachers with facilitators from Hive Athens and Mozilla Representatives. Don't miss the chance to take part!

The workshop for students will focus on mastering video editing with Popcorn Maker.

The workshop for teachers will include introductions to both webpage remixing with Thimble and video editing with Popcorn Maker.

POPCORN MAKER: SUPERCHARGE YOUR VIDEOS
Video workshop (for both students and teachers)
Popcorn Maker makes it easy to enhance, remix and share web videos. Use your web browser to combine video and audio with content from the rest of the web – from text, links and maps to pictures and live feeds.

Use Popcorn Maker to create your own interactive newscasts, pop-up videos, multimedia reports, fan videos, guided web tours and more. Remix your favorite videos on YouTube or sounds on SoundCloud, add your own comments and links, or drag and drop in content from across the web.

The result is a whole new way to tell stories on the web with videos that are dynamic, full of links and unique each time you watch them. It's video beyond the box.

THIMBLE: WEBMAKING MADE EASY
Webpage remixing (for teachers only)

Building your own webpage is much easier than you think. Just follow the simple instructions in Mozilla's Thimble web application. You can create your own web footprint and become a programmer in a matter of a few minutes. And you know what's best? With a single click you can get the URL of your page to share it with anyone

When:   Τuesday 5 March 2013, 10.00–13.30
Where: British Council, 17 Kolonaki Square, 106 73 Athens

HIVE ATHENS
Hive Athens is a new initiative to promote experiential learning through young people’s interests and the creative use of digital media. This is the first time that we've collaborated with Hive Athens to encourage learning by doing, building and creating.

Hive Athens' first official event will take place on 2 March 2 2013 in Technopolis, where 150 students aged 13–18 will take part in eight workshops featuring comics, animation, webpage creation, video remixing, robotics, electronics and even journalism.

Do you want to join a future Hive Athens event? Are you passionate about innovation and changing the learning environment? Are you interested in bringing the Hive experience to your students or to your children? Do you want to enrich your curriculum with the creative use of digital media and become part of Hive Athens?
