THE POWER OF 10

And the winners are ...
All schools that took part in the project successfully completed the workshops but also had energy savings of at least 28% so all are winners!

The grading was based on the success of the Green Teams that were created in each school that attended the workshops and the track energy savings through smart meters installed in every school, allowing students to control energy consumption in their schools by using a user-friendly web platform.

The 152nd Primary School together with the 7th Gymnasium Peristeriou jointly won the first place in the project, while the 70th Primary School of Athens won second place. The Climate Advocates presented the ten teams with certificates for their active participation. All teachers were particularly encouraging towards the Green teams.

We hope other schools follow the example of the ten participating schools and continue to raise awareness of the important issue of climate change.

Reduction of energy consumption in 10 Athens schools
Our Climate Advocates are organising an innovative educational programme in 10 schools in Athens which aims to encourage students to reduce their school’s energy consumption by 10% in 10 weeks! Students will be in charge of monitoring their school’s energy performance, which will be measured with energy meters installed in the school and through the use of the interactive web platform www.thepoweroften.gr.

During the programme, students will have the opportunity to take part in a series of interactive workshops designed to develop their knowledge and equip them to take action to address issues of sustainable living, energy consumption and climate change. At the end of the 10 weeks, the school that achieves the best energy performance and proves to be the most active in the workshops and the other project activities will be 'crowned' Champion!

After the project has ended, the energy metres will remain in the schools.
