About the Chartered Institute of Linguists
The Chartered Institute of Linguists serves the interests of professional linguists throughout the world and acts as a language assessment and accredited awarding body.

It offers public examinations in a wide range of languages for both the general and specialist user. The examinations have been developed to meet the needs of industry, commerce and the public services.

They are occupationally relevant and provide an instant indicator of language proficiency.

About the Exams
Ask for an application form from our offices in Athens and Thessaloniki.

You should send your completed form and the exam fees to the Institute.

Qualify through the British Council
The British Council Examinations Services delivers the examinations in Greece.

Fee:
15 Euro per hour of examination (additional to the examination fee)

The Institute offers the following examinations:

  • Certificate in Bilingual Skills (CBS)
  • Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
  • Diploma in Translation (DipTrans)
  • Final Diploma in English and Chinese (FDEC)

Examination Literature
Candidates are advised to obtain a copy of the relevant examination handbook and past papers. Order forms are available from the Central Registration Department.

Membership of the Institute
Successful candidates of the Diploma in Translation are entitled to use the designation “DipTrans Iol” and are entitled to apply for membership of the Institute. Full details are sent out to every successful candidate. For further information please contact the Institute.
