Check the IELTS test dates.

As there is a limited number of places for all sessions, we recommend that you register at least 5 weeks before your chosen test date but places may be available after this date. Check https://ielts.britishcouncil.org for live information on test place availability.

Prepare two (2) recent identical passport size photographs and a photocopy of the ID document you have specified in your application (national identity card or passport).

Candidates registering after 1 January 2010 must NOT wear glasses in the photographs they submit for IELTS registration.

Register through our Online Registration Service.

Book your IELTS test using our online registration system.  At the end of the online registration process, print and sign the ‘IELTS Application Summary’.  You can print it directly from the website or print the ‘British Council IELTS Online Application Summary’ sent to you by e-mail.

Pay the test fee in the following way:

By direct deposit to the British Council account at Alpha Bank. You can do this at any Alpha Bank branch, via an ATM, or via web banking through your own bank. Please note that you will be responsible for any bank charges incurred. A full list of Alpha Bank branches, including branches operating in the afternoon and ATMs, can be found at www.alpha.gr. Account number: 1150 0200 2018 908 IBAN: GR05 0140 1150 1150 0200 2018 908 Please quote the name of the candidate and IELTS in the 'Αιτιολογία' field on the deposit slip (e.g. N. Papanikolaou, IELTS).

We cannot accept cash sent by post, postal orders, payment of fees at our offices, registrations by phone or reservations not accompanied by full payment.

You can now easily submit your application documents electronically. Please scan each of the following documents as .jpeg files:

• two (2) recent passport type photographs
  Please note that photographs must be passport type, no more than 6 months old, be taken against a plain background, show the candidate with a neutral expression, with mouth closed and no glasses. Photos must be scanned in full colour.
• a photocopy of your passport or National ID (EU citizens only)
  NB: you have to provide the same document on the day of the examination
• proof of your payment
  You must send us the deposit slip as described in step 5

Please make sure that your attachment is up to 3 MB.

Important:

• write in the subject area your full name and the date of the session you have chosen
• use this format for saving the files: (name)_(familyname)_(session date).jpg

Alternatively, you can send your application documents by post, to the centre through which you will be taking the IELTS (Athens or Thessaloniki - see below for contact details). If posting documents we recommend that you use an express postal service to ensure that they arrive on time.

We must receive your application documents within 5 working days. Make sure you submit the required documents within 5 working days after your online registration to avoid cancellation.

Please note:

• The Speaking Test may be scheduled up to seven days before or after the written parts of the test. The exact date and time of the Speaking Test will be shown on each candidate's personal timetable. Timetables are sent by e-mail approximately one week before the date of the Speaking Test to the e-mail address provided on the online application.
  
  Speaking Tests for candidates whose postal address is in Attiki or the Thessaloniki area will be scheduled the week before the date of the written parts of the test (between 1000 and 2100).
  
  Speaking Tests for candidates whose postal address is outside Attiki or the Thessaloniki area will be scheduled after 1300 on the date of the written parts of the test (between 1300 and 2000).
  
  Candidates must include the post code and area in their postal address when completing the online registration form.
  
  
• If you would like your results – up to a maximum of five (5) copies – to be sent to universities or other educational institutions, please enter the relevant addresses in the appropriate fields on the online registration form.
  
  
• IELTS is not recommended for candidates under the age of 16.

REFUNDS

			If you cancel your registration at least 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund of 75% of the test fee.
			If you cancel your registration within 5 weeks or less of the test date, there will be no refund, unless you provide appropriate evidence to support the cancellation. In this case you need to submit the Request for Refund Form (available below) and attach the appropriate evidence. Acceptable documents include a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate, or a police report or a verification from the army. Statutory declarations or certificates signed by family members are not acceptable. All the above must be submitted to the test centre within 5 days of the test date.

TEST DATE TRANSFERS

You may transfer to a different test date only if you notify us at least 5 weeks prior to the test session you have registered for by submitting the Request for Transfer Form (available below). There is a €10 charge for transfers.

Candidates must select a new preferred test date which will be confirmed by the Administrator depending on availability for the selected test date and only if the candidate’s application is approved. Please note that you are able to transfer only once.
