Many major companies in Greece confirm that they use the Cambridge ESOL exams in recruitment and to identify employees suitable for promotion or to allocate salary enhancements. Among these are major employers including the Bank of Athens, Citibank, Kraft Foods, Nestle, Price Waterhouse, Siemens and Sony Hellas.
Recognition by employers in not limited to the higher level exams – First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – many employers also see the Key English Test (KET) and especially the Preliminary English Test (PET) as evidence of a level of English which is adequate for employees in administrative and service roles. The recent recognition of PET by ASEP enhances its role as a practical qualification in Greece.
At the same time, the list of employers that recognise the exams is growing rapidly and includes a large number of the world’s leading companies, as well as public bodies and major national companies in many countries.
