EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES COMPETITION

Don’t miss the European Day of Languages Competition we're organising in collaboration with SKAI Radio and our EUNIC Greece partners: the Instituto Cervantes de Atenas, the Instituto Italiano di Cultura di Atene, the Goethe-Institut Athen and the Institut Francais d'Athènes.

Enter the competition now and you could be one of the lucky winners of a language course at one of the participating cultural institutes!

In 2001 the Council of Europe proclaimed 26 September the official European Day of Languages with the aim of celebrating Europe's rich linguistic diversity and promoting language learning. This pan-European campaign is part of a wider effort by the European Union and the Council of Europe to promote multilingualism. By learning more than one foreign language, each citizen contributes to intercultural understanding and cultural diversity within Europe.

As part of this celebration and starting on Monday 19 September 2011, EUNIC Greece, in collaboration with the ZOI.gr programme on SKAI Radio, will present a special week-long daily tribute to European languages and foreign language learning in Greece. The tribute is supported by the participation of representatives from the Instituto Cervantes, the British Council, the Instituto Italiano di Cultura, the Goethe-Institut Athen and the Institut Francais d'Athènes.

On 26 September 2011, the actual day of the European Day of Languages celebration, the programme will present a representative from the Directorate General for Translation of the European Commission and will draw the winners of the 5 scholarships – one for each participating cultural institute – for a one-semester language learning course.

As part of this competition, we have great pleasure in offering a free place on a one-semester English language course (for either an adult or a child depending on the age and the level of English of the lucky winner) at our Athens Teaching Centre.

To enter the competition, you can either:
