YOUNG LEARNERS TESTS – STARTERS, MOVERS AND FLYERS
The Cambridge ESOL Young Learners Tests have been specially developed to assess the English of children aged 7 to 12. They help develop English and reinforce language learning through a series of carefully chosen tasks, and represent a first step towards the main suite of Cambridge ESOL exams. The tests are at three levels:
Starters is the lowest level and is designed for children from the age of 7.
Movers is the second level and a typical candidate is likely to be aged between 8 and 11.
Flyers is the third level and a typical candidate is likely to be aged between 9 and 12.
The aims of the tests are to:
- assess all four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing
- focus on simple, relevant and meaningful language use
- create a positive first impression of international tests
- have a positive impact on children's future language learning
- encourage effective learning and teaching
- provide every student with a reward for his or her effort as there are no fail grades.
