Translation Services
Certification Services

New Service: Submit your document(s) by courier/post
If you make use of our new courier/postal service by 30 July 2008*, you'll receive 2 free certified copies of your UK or Greek document. If you also complete our feedback questionnaire, you could win 2 free return air tickets to London!

AN OVERVIEW OF OUR SERVICES
If you're studying or have completed your studies in the UK, you may need certification and translation of your UK qualifications for submission to the Greek authorities.

If you're planning to study in the UK, you may need to have Greek documents translated into English for submission to UK educational institutions and authorities.

Our official and fully recognised translation and certification service (also provided by courier/post) covers a wide range of documents, including:

certificates of studies
transcripts of grades and degrees issued by UK and Greek universities
English language certificates and IT skills certificates
certificates issued by the Greek authorities and other official documents required for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and medical specialty training courses in the UK.

TRANSLATION SERVICES

English into Greek – we translate:
documents issued by UK institutions of secondary, further and higher education
documents issued by official bodies in the UK
English language certificates issued by the University of Cambridge ESOL, the University of Oxford, Edexcel etc.
IT skills certificates issued by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)
medical specialty and training certificates issued by official bodies in the UK.

Please note:

  • Submission of the original document(s) is a requirement.
  • We can only translate after we have verified the authenticity of the original document with the issuing body.
  • Translation of certificates issued by the University of Cambridge ESOL and the University of Oxford normally takes 1–3 working days including the verification process (postal/courier dispatch is not included in this). For details of the Express Service offered by the British Council in Athens, please see 'Special Certification Cases' below.
  • Translation of other documents normally takes 3–5 working days including the verification process (postal/courier dispatch is not included in this).
Greek into English – we translate:
documents issued by Greek institutions of secondary, further and higher education
documents issued by official bodies in Greece
medical specialty and training certificates issued by official bodies in Greece.

Please note:

  • Translation normally takes 3–5 working days (postal/courier dispatch is not included in this).

CERTIFICATION SERVICES
We only certify documents issued by British bodies that have official or recognised academic or professional status in the UK. For further information on our certification services, please read our Code of Practice (PDF, 26 KB).

Please note:

  • Submission of the original document(s) is a requirement.
  • We can only certify after we have verified the authenticity of the original document with the issuing body; for this purpose, you may be asked to sign an Authorisation Form (MS Word, 54 KB).
  • Certification normally takes 3–5 working days (postal/courier dispatch is not included in this).

Special Certification Cases

Documents not listed in the full list of documents or the Code of Practice
Please contact us for information (see below for contact details).
Destroyed/lost University of Cambridge ESOL or University of Oxford English language certificates
If you've lost your University of Cambridge ESOL or University of Oxford English language certificate, or if it's been destroyed, we can issue a British Council Statement stating your name, level and the date you took the examination. This involves investigation of the files kept by us or the relevant university. Depending on the examination venue, this may take 1–5 working days (postal/courier dispatch is not included in this).

Express Service (for University of Cambridge ESOL English language certificates only) offered by the British Council in Athens
If you can’t wait the normal 2–3 days for us to translate/certify your University of Cambridge ESOL document(s), our Athens office offers an Express Service.

Simply bring your original document(s) to our Customer Services staff in Athens and we’ll deal with your translation/certification on the same day: we'll certify your document(s) while you wait and you’ll be able to collect the translation after 1230.

Alternatively, you can send your document(s) to our Athens office by courier or registered mail. You’ll receive your translated/certified document(s) by courier the next day. You can find the translation/certification fees for our Express Service in our list of fees (PDF, 52 KB).

Please note that the Express Service for certification is only available for documents on our database.

Tired of looking for a parking space? Fed up of queuing? Find it difficult to visit us during our opening hours? Now you can submit/receive your document(s) and pay the translation/certification fee at your convenience! You can send your document(s) by registered mail or courier (special courier rates apply) and pay the fee by bank deposit or courier, again at a special rate.
