ABOUT CIE
WHAT IS CIE?

The University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), which is itself a department of the world-renowned University of Cambridge. UCLES has developed and promoted qualifications around the world for almost 150 years and has seen the need for internationally recognised qualifications continue to grow.

CIE is the world’s leading provider of international qualifications and assessments. It offers a broad range of qualifications related to Information and Communications Technology (Cambridge ICT), as well as professional qualifications that have been created with an international audience in mind, making them interesting and relevant for students worldwide. Cambridge International Diplomas (CID) are accepted and recognised by ministries, universities, education providers and employers across the globe.

CIE works hard to make sure that all assessments are suitable for students of all nationalities and they are carefully designed for students whose first language is not English.

The long-lasting relationship between the British Council and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate dates back to 1948, when the Cambridge English language qualifications were introduced in Greece. Since then these qualifications have received the highest recognition not only from students, parents, employers and professionals but also from the Greek State. CIE qualifications were introduced in Greece by the British Council in 2000, bringing to the market a range of internationally recognised professional qualifications which have since proved extremely popular.
