KATE MOSSE

Kate Mosse’s third novel, Labyrinth, was a publishing sensation, reaching No. 1 in both hardcover and paperback bestseller lists in the UK. It is an international No. 1 bestseller, and has been translated into 37 languages including Greek. It was chosen as one of Waterstone's Top 100 novels of the past 25 years and was voted the Richard & Judy Read of the Year 2006.

Labyrinth skilfully blends together the lives of two women who are separated by time but united by a shared destiny, and is set both in the Middle Ages and present day France.

July 2005: In the Pyrenees mountains near Carcassonne, Alice, a volunteer at an archaeological dig, stumbles into a cave and makes a startling discovery – two crumbling skeletons, strange writings on the walls, and the pattern of a labyrinth.

Eight hundred years earlier: on the eve of a brutal crusade that will rip apart southern France, a young woman named Alais is given a ring and a mysterious book for safekeeping by her father. The book, he says, contains the secret of the true Grail, and the ring, inscribed with a labyrinth, will identify a guardian of the Grail. Now, as crusading armies gather outside the city walls of Carcassonne, it will take a tremendous sacrifice to keep the secret of the labyrinth safe.

Her stunning new novel Sepulchre, currently in the UK bestseller list, is a haunting mystery of revenge and obsession also set in southern France.

Labyrinth is published in Greece by Kedros Publishers, who will also be bringing out Sepulchre later this year.

The Co-Founder and Honorary Director of the Orange Prize for Fiction, an award open to women of all nationalities writing in English, Kate is also a guest presenter and reviewer for many TV and radio arts programmes. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet her.

In Athens, Kate Mosse will be in conversation with Scots writer Paul Johnston.

In Thessaloniki, the discussion with Kate Mosse will be facilitated by Dr Nicola Rehling, School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The event will be in English. Admission Free.
