THESSALONIKI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

It is our great pleasure to collaborate with the 49th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, and we are proud to present tributes to acclaimed filmmakers Terence Davies and Desperate Optimists as part of the Independence Days section of the festival.

Award-winning British director Terence Davies is one of the most respected and authentic filmmakers in cinema today. The tribute includes a complete retrospective of his work from the start of his career with the autobiographical Trilogy to his most recent work Of Time and the City, which received rave reviews at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

During his visit to Thessaloniki Davies will also conduct a masterclass, which will be open to the public. The masterclass will be facilitated by renowned film critic Geof Andrew (Time Out London, National Film Theatre).

Our second tribute is to creative film directors Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, who make up the award-winning film-making duo Desperate Optimists. Originally involved in experimental theatre and performing arts projects, they have now moved into complex online projects and films. The tribute includes screenings of their films Civic Life (a series of 9 short films) and Helen.
