For the first time since leaving Greece in 1997 to study dance in the UK, choreographer Athina Vahla will present a performance project in Athens. Her latest research and performance project The Splinter in the Flesh, which focuses on issues of migration and identity and aims to encourage a deeper understanding and acceptance of differences, will be presented in collaboration with the Isadora & Raymond Duncan Dance Research Center. Stories collected from immigrants will be used as a framework to create a multidisciplinary project including dance and movement, text and visual art. Six dance performers will work with Athina for a period of three weeks prior to presenting the project to the public.
