We're proud to present Τhe Age of Stupid, a documentary about climate change, by British filmmaker Franny Armstrong. In 2055, a future archivist looks at old footage from the year 2007 to understand why humankind failed to address climate change.
The Age of Stupid will be followed by screening of the film A Place Without People, by Greek filmmaker Andreas Apostolidis. The film is about how the local population of Tanzania has been evicted to make way for the creation of the world’s most famous nature reserves.
Αfter the screenings, Dr Daniel Brockington, Reader in Environment and Development at the University of Manchester, will lead an open discussion with the audience.
During his visit to Athens, Dr Brockington will also give a workshop for students and journalists on the topic Environment & the Media. How to present and communicate environmental issues in order to achieve awareness and encourage action more effectively.
The two screenings, open discussion and workshop are part of a series of documentary screenings of award-winning Greek and foreign documentaries organised by CineDoc, the French Institute, ERT and Anemon Productions, starting on 6 October 2010 and ending on 25 May 2011.
