PUPPETRY WORKSHOP

Once again we're delighted to welcome you to the enchanting world of puppetry and mime! It is our great pleasure to support the 10th International Puppet and Mime Festival of Kilkis and invite you once more to explore the uniqueness of these two wonderful art forms.

Our puppetry workshop this year features Rene Baker and her workshop Bringing Puppets, Objects and Materials to Life.

The workshop introduces various 'tools' the actor-puppeteer can apply to any inanimate object in order to create the impression that it is alive. Each session looks at a different aspect of generating movement with puppets, objects and materials, and includes:

exercising the puppeteer’s body
understanding emotion and thought in the puppet
using the laws of nature to give the semblance of life
the theatrical possibilities of everyday objects.

London-born Rene Baker is a specialist in puppet and object theatre, and during the past twenty years she has worked as a performer, designer, director, pedagogue, investigator and consultant.

Since 1998 Rene has been developing her own training method for bringing puppets, objects and materials to life, and has led workshops in England, Norway, Finland, Spain and Estonia.

From 1998-2005 Rene taught regularly at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and since July 2005 she has been teaching at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona.
