Don’t miss the screening of the documentary Going for Green – Britain’s 2012 Dream, which we are presenting in collaboration with the British Embassy in Greece, the Benaki Museum and ECOWEEK 2011.
The documentary was commissioned by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Olympic Delivery Authority, and tells the story of how the Olympic Park is being built in an environmentally sustainable way, in accordance with the legacy objectives as set out in the original London 2012 bid. The film highlights British creativity and excellence in construction, as well as the cutting edge 'green' technology used for the build of the Olympic Park. The Parklands, Soil Cleaning, the Aquatics Centre and the Velodrome are some of the Olympic projects presented in the film.
Following the screening, acclaimed UK architect of Hopkins Architects – the company that designed the new Olympic Velodrome – will make a presentation and lead a public discussion on how contemporary environmental concerns apply to major architectural works such as the London 2012 Velodrome.
The film will be screened with Greek subtitles and admission is free to the public. The presentation and discussion will be held in English
The screening and discussion are being organised as part of this year’s ECOWEEK International Conference and Workshops for Architecture and Design taking place in Athens between 12–18 December 2011.
