FRINGE: EDINBURGH IN THESSALONIKI

This mini festival features a selection of the most outstanding companies from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Edinburgh Fringe is one of the most popular festivals worldwide, taking place every August as part of the Edinburgh International Festival. The festival accommodates a total of 600 companies from Britain and abroad and approximately 1,500 performances take place in 200 different venues around town. It is considered one of the most important celebrations of innovative theatre, music and dance.

The companies we have selected for the Greek audience include Duckie (cabaret), Peepolykus (magic comedy), Eddie Ladd (a one-woman tour-de-force), the Natural Theatre Company (stage-less theatre), Stan’s Café (street theatre) and Men in Coats (in their first appearance in Thessaloniki).

The festival will be launched with the setting up of The Black Maze (Stan’s Café) in the city centre. The performances will take place over one week in various venues.

This festival will bring a slice of Edinburgh to Thessaloniki and with it we aim to introduce young Greek audiences to the concept of ‘fringe’ and experimental physical theatre.
