CULTURAL ECONOMY AND GROWTH CONFERENCE

We are pleased to support the Athens Equus 2011 conference on Cultural Economy and Growth, organised by the Independent Arts Council - IARC with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Independent Arts Council illustrates business models regarding management, promotion and funding issues in the cultural management sector and in the arts, making quality suggestions for qualitative and quantitative changes.

The conference aims to present to participants (representatives of arts organisations and the state) current trends in cultural economy and management. These are elements which contribute to cultural awareness, to the sustainability of artists or cultural organisations and to the quality of work to be produced in a period of economic crisis and profound social changes.

The conference is divided into 3 discussion sessions:

Current International Trends in Cultural Policy and Economy
Regional Cultural Development
Import and Export of Cultural Goods and Services

Speakers at the conference include distinguished accademics and experts from Greek and abroad with a background in cultural management and economy. Among them, the UK keynote speaker:

Anamaria Wills
CIDA International (Creative Industries Development Agency), Chief Executive

Athens Equus 2011 aims to respond directly to questions arising from these topics and to generate conditions for a fruitful and constructive dialogue between the invited speakers, the public and representatives of the cultural and business community.

Admission is free.

When:   Wednesday 4 May 2011, 0900–1430
Where: Ministry of Culture (Auditorium), 20 Bouboulinas Street, 106 82 Athens
