CITY TO CITY CABARET

Join us in another exciting British Council Creative Collaboration activity under the general project Skills Exchange, which brings us a wonderful collaborative cabaret performance featuring artists from the UK, Croatia, Bulgaria and Greece.

The City to City Cabaret project is the result of a two-year collaboration between the Greenwich Dance Agency (UK), Full House Promotion (Greece), the Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance/HIPP (Croatia) and Heteropodi Dance (Bulgaria).

City to City Cabaret is a sociable dance event which features the best bits of a traditional cabaret event (table service, live band, compére) alongside a distinctly modern diverse line-up of dance, performance, spoken word, circus and film.

The project aims to promote the diversity of European dance by facilitating creation and performance opportunities and cultural exchange between artists, cultural leaders and creative entrepreneurs in four the partner cities (London, Sofia, Zagreb and Athens).

Based on the Greenwich Dance Agency cabaret in London, City to City Cabaret will present a unique dance performance in a cabaret context in each city, showcasing the work of local professional artists alongside pieces by amateur performers, with guest dancers from the four partner cities, local musicians and a compère.

The cabaret model is a way of collecting and presenting a range of short dance experiences, both pre-existing and specially made, which celebrate the cultural diversity of the local dance community.

The Skills Exchange programme focuses on making links between the UK and dance artists and organisations in Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece. The project seeks to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience and artistic opportunities to create and perform work. A key aim is to act not only as a catalyst for the further development of dance in the different regions but to enable an ongoing dialogue to shape and inform practice for all four partners.
