CONVERGING LINES

Converging Lines is a poetry partnership working to bring talented new poets from the UK to an international audience through public readings, workshops, teaching in universities and collaboration with poets in translation.

Four award-winning poets who have considerable teaching expertise and performance skills are participating in the Converging Lines visit to Athens:

Julia Copus
Winner of the National Poetry Competition 2003 and Royal Literary Fellow at Exeter University
Antony Dunn
Winner of the Newdigate Prize 2005
Matthew Hollis
Winner of the Eric Gregory Award, shortlisted for the Whitbread Prize for Poetry, the Guardian First Book Award and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, and currently poetry editor at Faber & Faber
Clare Pollard
Winner of the Eric Gregory Award 2000, teacher, critic and broadcaster

POETRY MEETING
We invite you to a meeting between Converging Lines and the young Greek poets Yiannis Efthimiadis, Marigo Alexopoulou, Michalis Papandonopoulos and Vasilis Rouvalis. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear these talented young poets read their poems, exchange ideas and discuss poetry today.

The event is taking place in the framework of our initiative to promote networking and cross-cultural exchange between UK and Greek poets and is being held in collaboration with the electronic magazine (.poema) and Dasein Coffee Arts & Spirits.

The event will be followed by a screening of a documentary on poetry and the sea.

CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS
The poets will lead creative writing workshops for young Greek poets and prospective poets. The workshops will be held in English and are open to the public, however, places are limited and will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis.
