The festival will feature the popular superhero artist in a workshop entitled , where he will take participants step-by-step through the techniques he uses to create new characters. Join us and learn more about his approach and methodology, about the pitfalls to avoid and tips that can make a character more visually interesting. Barry will also sign his work and participate in an open discussion with the public.
Barry Kitson started his career as a comic book artist in the 1980s as a regular penciller on Spider-Man, Space Thieves and Transformers for Marvel UK. He later moved to IPC's 2000 AD, and, at the end of the 1980s, started working for DC Comics, where his first artistic job was a Batgirl special issue. He currently works exclusively for Marvel Comics on such titles as The Amazing Spider-Man, Secret Invasion, Fantastic 4 and The Order, which he created in collaboration with the writer Matt Fraction.
Comicdom Con Athens is an annual two-day comics festival, the fourth so far, which aims to engage Greek audiences with one of the most interesting art forms. This year's festival features two distinguished guests, the American writer Marv Wolfamn and the UK comic book artist and writer Barry Kitson, a unique exhibition entitled Superhero Experience, as well as workshops, film screenings and the Comicdom Awards, the only comics awards for Greek creators.
