Guide and feedback

You choose when, where and how to listen!

WHAT IS A PODCAST?

A podcast is an audio file that you can subscribe to, so that you don’t have to visit a website to listen to it - it will be delivered to you automatically. But you can also listen to all of our audio files online, or download them so that you can listen on your computer or on an MP3 player.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD FILES

To download the files, right-click on the title, choose 'Save target as', and select where you want to save the file. If you're a using a Mac, simply double-click on the link and use the on-screen window to select the file's destination.

HOW TO PLAY WEB AUDIO FILES ON YOUR PC

If you want to listen on your PC, just left click and the file will play in your default player. For Mac users, click the title. Warning: this may take a long time.

HOW TO PLAY OR READ DOWNLOADED FILES ON YOUR PC

To play or read downloaded files, find the file you saved and double-click on it.

HOW TO READ THE TEXTS ONLINE AS YOU LISTEN

If you want to read the texts online as you listen, first (down)load the audio files and then click on the 'Transcript' for each podcast. The texts will open in a different window.

HOW TO READ THE TEXTS OFFLINE AS YOU LISTEN

Download the Transcript or Support Pack to your computer. Then open the file. Then double-click on your downloaded podcast, which will then open in your player and start to play. To move to a later section you will need to 'fast-forward' - there is normally a sliding bar in the player that you can drag forward. The online Podcast page will tell you approximately the amount of time you need to move forward in the player.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I've downloaded an MP3 but I can't hear anything. What is the problem?

Check your sound settings on your media player and your computer. And check that your speakers or headphones are connected.

Do I need to have an mp3 player to listen to the podcasts?

No you don't. You can listen to the MP3 files on your computer if you have a media player (iTunes, windows Media Player, etc). The advantage of transfering the podcasts to an mp3 player  is that you can listen to them anywhere you want to.

Do I need to have an iPod to listen to these podcasts away from my computer?

No, any mp3 player will do
