'Gender Equality News'; first made it's appearance in June 1993 as the ' Women' s Network Newsletter' and was launched by our Director General at that time - John Hanson. The purpose of the newsletter was' to promote the advancement of women by sharing information, exchanging ideas and successful working practices ' and with a distribution of list of over 5000 it can certainly claim to be reaching a global audience of women. Over the years we have introduced thematic versions of the newsletter on topics such as' Women in transition 'Equal opportunities and stereotypes'  Gender and politics' Women and globalisation' .
