'Big Cars and Leaking Roofs' A group of MPs from east and Central Africa have been sharing political experiences with women MPs from the UK whom they shadowed for a week.
Women in Parliament This project aimed to increase voter participation amongst Jordanian women and youth. Working with a number of local women's organizations, it focused on raising awareness on voter rights and encouraging women to participate as candidates and voters in the 2003 parliamentary election. Two local universities also participated in the project and ran numerous activities to educate young Jordanians on their important role in the political process.
'Engendering Development and Democracy'
A workshop jointly organised by Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Commonwealth Secretariat; British Council; Commonwealth Foundation and Parliament of Nigeria was held before the main Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Abuja with the aim of:

Bringing together new parliamentarians to share experiences as politicians on barriers and challenges they face, and consider strategic partnerships to engender development and democracy |

Raising awareness on the role of civil society and the role they can play in collaboration with politicians in addressing policy issues |

Identifying issues to be included in the Commonwealth Action Plan for Women's Affairs Ministers Meeting, and to chart the progress towards meeting CHOGM targets in priority areas |

Women politicians from all over the world encounter many barriers and challenges when trying to make their voices heard in the male dominated arena of politics. However as this report shows, the value of sharing experiences and strategies to bring about change can be inspirational.
