Tian Xiaogang is the current Minister Counsellor for Education at the Chinese Embassy in London. Prior to this he held positions as Secretary General of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Deputy Delegate of the Permanent Mission of China to UNESCO as well as the Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, China.

Tian Xiaogang was also previously the First Secretary of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in Canada. He was a lecturer at the Institute of Population Research at Peking University and is a graduate from McGill University Canada as well as Peking University.
