Dr Takoi Hamrita is Professor of Electrical Engineering at University of Georgia (UGA). She is the Founding Director of The UGA-Tunisia Educational Partnership, an innovative multidisciplinary international cooperation program between the University of Georgia and the Tunisian Higher Education System. The program, which she established in 2002, has made significant contributions to UGA and Tunisia’s higher education through several initiatives including e-learning capacity building, as well as the exchange of over 100 scholars, administrators, and students. The program has developed a national and international reputation as a new and effective model for international university cooperation and has led to the program receiving the prestigious Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education, The Tunisian National Medal of Merit for Science and Education, and the Ibn Khaldoun Excellence in Community Service Award. Dr Hamrita holds several leadership positions in international professional societies, and serves as Associate Editor for three scientific journals. She has assumed several leadership positions to advance the learning environment at the University of Georgia and has received several awards including the Lilly Fellowship Award, The UGA Excellence in Undergraduate Education Russell Award, and the UGA Teacher of the Year Award.
