His Excellency Professor Mohammad Osman Babury has been the Afghan Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Academic Affairs since April 2007. He has also recently held the position of Acting Minister of Higher Education.
He is currently a member of several national committees and boards in the Ministry of Public Health, including the National Board of Medicine. He has participated in many international conferences/seminars, at which he has given presentations on pharmacognosy and on the medicinal and aromatic plants of Afghanistan. He has published twenty-three articles in the field of pharmacy in Afghanistan, Russia and France and he is the author of a Dari language textbook, entitled ‘Pharmacognosy’.
Previously he was Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Kabul University and Acting General Director of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Department of the Ministry of Public Health from 2006 to 2008. Prior to this he was Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Kabul University from 2002 and Vice Dean from 1991 to 1997.
