Richard Brown is Chief Executive of The Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE). CIHE is a high level partnership between the Chairs/CEOs of some of the UK’s major businesses and a range of university vice-chancellors and college principals. CIHE’s mission is to advance all kinds of learning and research by fostering mutual understanding between higher education and business. It achieves this by influencing the Government and its agencies to affect change.

Richard has held Senior Management positions in both the public and private sectors, including the DTI, Meyer International, the National Grid Company, and a predecessor of the South West Regional Development Agency at Bristol. He has written and edited numerous policy papers on HE issues.
