An award winning global education programme

DGSP has been presented with a World Aware Education Award by an international jury for the programme’s ‘excellence in networking, partnerships and co-ordination to increase and improve global education.’ Andy Egan, DGSP Team Leader, was presented with the award by Dermot McGauran, First Secretary of the Irish Embassy in Hungary, at a ceremony held in Budapest on 21 March 2009.

Andy said, ‘It is an honour to have been selected for this award. The ceremony in Budapest was attended by delegates from Education Ministries and NGOs from 23 European countries, and there was a lot of positive feedback about our focus on equity, learning and sustainability. The award is a fitting tribute to the efforts of the consortium partners and global team over the past 6 years. DGSP is a world-class programme developed and delivered by a world-class team, who have enabled teachers in more than 3,600 schools to bring the world into the classroom.’

‘It’s good to see our successful collaboration with our client DFID and our consortium partners - Cambridge Education Foundation, UK One World Linking Association and VSO – being acknowledged in this positive way,’ said Desmond Lauder, Head of Contracts and Projects Delivery.
