The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation, connecting people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK, and building lasting relationships between the UK and other countries.
In Ghana we work partners (both Ghanaian and British) to build appreciation of the UK's creativity and scientific innovation. We help promote recognition of the UK's values, ideas and achievements and nurture lasting, mutually beneficial relationships between Ghana and the UK.
We increase international recognition of the range and quality of learning opportunities from the UK. Through our knowledge and learning approach we have integrated exams, learning, information, events and professional development to offer you a service that provides UK expertise, whatever your needs. We administer exams and work with examination boards, educational institutions and professional bodies to market and provide access to UK education products.
Through our partnership with the Department for International Development, we manage a programme of Higher Education Links and Global School Partnerships; we also work with women journalists and manage the UK Teachers International Professional Development as part of our schools linking work.
Our partnerships in government and civil society, often funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, help us to increase awareness and appreciation of the UK's democratic values and processes among young people, professionals and leaders. This work involves initiatives and projects on human rights, access to justice, freedom of information, civic education and leadership development.
We also develop and support networks of creative innovators in music, dance, design and literature in Ghana. Through these networks we can create long-term relationships with UK counterparts to create awareness of the UK's creativity and cultural diversity.
We work with aspiring young professionals and learners seeking UK qualifications, as well as potential leaders and innovators. We also have an ongoing association with key opinion formers and decision-makers to help promote the UK as a partner, model and mentor. We also provide information and support to a larger group of educated Ghanaians, particularly those who have UK qualifications, or have lived and studied in the UK
