The village des sciences is one of the numerous events organised for the Fête de la Science in France. This year this event is also included in the double-decker bus journey organised for the "British Week".Seminar on " Climate-Society Interactions - Case studies from Africa". Scientists from France, the UK and Africa exchanged their findings and discussed their ideas on different aspects of the subject. Organised in collaboration with Dr Declan Conway, School of Development Studies, University of East Anglia and Dr Gil Mahé, Institut de Recherche sur le Développement, Montpellier.

As befits this Entente Cordiale centenary year, the British Council’s stand in the village des sciences ( set up for the first time in the Jardin du Luxembourg) focused on examples where teams from France and the UK have been producing world-class science together: antibiotics nanostructures, animal physiology.
Two reknown scientists, Professor Denis Noble (University of Oxford) and Professor Richard Frackowiak (University College London) gave a lecture at the Ecole des Mines, respectively on computer modelling of the human body and brain imaging.
British science documentaries were screened at the British Council during the week.
An international conference on brain drain, researchers' mobility and the attractiveness of European countries and the European research sector. This international event is organised by the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, with the support of the British Council, the German and Italian Embassies, and the European Commission.
