British Council France
How we work

The British Council in France is actively promoting reseach collaboration and develops activities around current scientific issues.

What do we do ?

Our aim is to facilitate contacts between the French and the British scientific communities, as well as letting the wider French public know about the creativity and innnovation generated by research in the UK and involving them in the debates surrounding these subjects.

We believe that research, and ultimately society, stands to gain from increasing high quality scientific collaboration between our countries and that, for non-specialists, an awareness of the broader social and political issues posed by scientifc developments is an important element in citizenship today.

Can we help you ?

Our main financial support is focused on the Alliance programme which provides travel grants to joint projects in all scientific disciplines bringing together French and British researchers, with a special emphasis on the younger generation. We also hold regular seminars for groups of young researchers.

For our non-scientific audiences we devise a programme of activities around a large over-arching theme.
