British Council Schools Online has lots of information about forming a partnership with a school in France, and general advice on successful international working.
Below is some further information about programmes that support schools working with France.
Comenius is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme. Comenius provides opportunities for schools and colleges to introduce or strengthen the European dimension in their curriculum, for example through support for projects within school partnerships and in-service training for teachers. The new Comenius Regio partnerships allow local authorities to participate directly.
The Lefèvre Trust aims to increase understanding and trust between young people in the UK and France by providing funding to support school-to-school joint projects. The programme is for 11-19 year olds and all schools with this age range will be eligible. The programme is currently under review, but we hope to relaunch it later this year.
The Charles de Gaulle Bursary scheme, founded by Lady Soames, allows young people aged 17-19 from France or the UK to work on a project on any aspect of French or British language and culture. The scheme is currently under review, but we hope to have more news soon.
The Jules Verne programme is for teachers in French primary and secondary schools who wish to spend a year teaching in a UK school.
The Inter-Action: sections europeennes and specialist schools programme promotes Anglo-French school partnerships by pairing English and French schools and supporting them to work together. It is jointly managed by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and the Centre international d'etudes pedagogiques.
