The UK has a centuries old tradition of education that is constantly evolving.  Combining great heritage with a dynamic culture, studying in the UK offers brilliant educational opportunities.

UK qualifications have for hundreds of years been both recognised and respected throughout the world and by studying at an independent school in the UK you will be building a solid foundation for your future. UK schools provide a vibrant, creative and challenging environment in which to learn and develop your potential.

Quality standards for UK institutions are among the best in the world. Independent schools continually have to prove that their courses meet strict criteria, with many other countries now trying to follow the example set by the UK.

Many of the world’s outstanding scientists, engineers, artists, writers, thinkers, politicians and business people have benefited from a UK education, including Bill Clinton, former President of the USA; Thabo Mbeki, President of South Africa; Desmond Tutu, Archbishop and human rights campaigner; Rifat Ozbek, fashion designer; Wole Soyinka, Nobel prize-winning author; Stelios Haji-Iaonnu, founder of the easyGroup of businesses and Imran Khan, cricket legend and politician.

UK qualifications are recognised and valued all over the world for their unrivalled academic quality. You couldn’t have a better start.

If you'd like to study a higher education course in the UK, the qualifications you'll gain at an independent school will give you the best chance of being accepted onto your chosen course and institution.

On many UK degree courses, more than 95 per cent of students enter with A-levels. At an independent school in the UK, you'll study the same subjects as UK students, in the same way, to achieve the same results, and you'll become familiar with all aspects of the UK education system - in other words, you'll be perfectly prepared for study at a UK college or university.

A UK independent school will offer you the support you need throughout your studies, and that includes language classes as well as your A-level lectures and practical sessions. You may not speak much English when you come to the UK, but you'll improve quickly once you're here. Unlike many international students who need to complete an International Foundation Year before embarking on a UK higher education course, you'll be able move straight on to a degree.

In UK education you’ll be valued for who you are and encouraged to combine academic excellence with independence and thinking for yourself.  The UK’s approach to teaching has evolved over many hundreds of years and aims to encourage independent, thoughtful and confident students.

At an independent school you can expect to be taught in a small group, where your teacher will be able to give you individual attention, whilst the range of teaching methods, ranging from classroom discussions to games, problem- solving projects, practical work and computer-assisted learning give you the opportunity to learn in the best possible way for you.

When studying in the UK you can focus on the subjects that really interest you from an early stage. At GCSE level you'll study on average eight subjects. At AS and A-level you'll study three or four subjects and can choose complimentary subjects such as physics, maths and further maths; history, classical civilisation and art; economics, politics and sociology; or music, drama and English, giving your academic studies a clear focus that will prepare you for a degree. You'll be picking up specialist knowledge and learning the facts and figures that you can build on at university.

The UK is home to the English language, a place with incredible heritage, an amazingly varied culture, and a fantastic social scene. A great place to both live and learn in.

Independent schools are complete communities. As well as the pupils, many of the teachers and care staff, such as the school nurse, also live at the school.  At evenings and weekends, you'll have access to all sorts of leisure and social activities.

You’ll be putting your English language skills into practice every day, not only when you are studying through writing notes and essays in English and maybe giving presentations and talks to your fellow pupils, but also through your social activities.  Even the time you spend with your friends will help your grasp of the English language and help you to work towards gaining a recognised English language qualification such as IELTS.

At school you'll be mixing with students from all over the world, whose different backgrounds and new perspectives will add to your experience. You'll be learning more and more about the UK’s diverse culture as you go, making friends and experiencing things you may never forget.
