EDF ENERGY - ENTENTE CORDIALE SCHOLARSHIPS
Two prestigious awards to fund your UK postgraduate studies

EDF Energy will be funding 2 branded Entente Cordiale scholarships for French postgraduate students who want to study in the UK during the academic year 2010-2011. We are seeking applications from science and engineering students.  This sought after disciplines are:

   •    Science - Mathematics, Materials, Chemistry and Physics
   •    Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Civil

The selection criteria for an EDF Energy – Entente Cordiale scholarship are the same as for the general Entente Cordiale scheme, except that candidates must be studying the disciplines listed above. You cannot apply for a scholarship for undergraduate study.

You can apply for an EDF Energy - Entente Cordiale scholarship if you are a postgraduate student who can prove your academic success and your interest in consolidating Franco-British links. You must fulfil all the criteria below to be eligible:

As the scheme is Franco-British you'll be expected to be of French nationality and/or to have completed your higher education in France to bac+3 level
Have a first degree in sciences or engineering
You must have good English language skills (most UK Higher Education institutions require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 for admission onto postgraduate courses)
You must be intending to undertake one year of study or research in the UK that will not contribute to a French doctorate
You will need an excellent track record illustrating your achievements, both academically and otherwise, and evidence that you will become a leader in your chosen field
As the scheme is aimed at young professionals at the beginning of their career, you must not be over 35 years old when you apply

The criteria below will be evaluated through applications received and, if short listed, at an interview in Paris:

  • Relevant degree – as per disciplines listed above
  • Sense of purpose – clear ambitions
  • Engages with and motivates others
  • Sound judgement/confident decision maker
  • Interpersonal effectiveness
  • Demonstrates integrity
  • Communicates and influences
  • Achieves results

What financial support does the EDF Energy-Entente Cordiale scholarship offer?
Each scholarship covers university fees up to a maximum of £6000, plus a contribution towards living costs. The total value of each scholarship normally amounts to £10 000, regardless of the course or institution chosen.

What courses does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship can fund Master's courses, running over a period of twelve months, or one year of a PhD programme. The scholarship is for one year only and is not renewable and must be in the broad disciplines listed above.

What are the benefits of an EDF Energy-Entente Cordiale scholarship?

How do you apply?
You will need to submit the following documents to us:

EDF Energy – Entente Cordiale application form( word icon Word Format)
supporting letters from two referees
photocopies of academic certificates
transcript/record of exams that you have passed

Applications for scholarships in 2010-2011 are now invited
You can download the application form ( word icon Word Format) for EDF – Entente Cordiale scholarships in 2010-2011. Applications sent after the deadline on 9 April 2010 will not be considered and scholarships are never granted retrospectively.
